Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame ★★★★½

I was gonna do a huge in depth review for this movie but didn't really feel the need to. I already did back when it came out. I’m just gonna talk about some of the things I really liked, some of the things I didn't really like and thing’s I wish this movie did.

I have 1 problem with this movie. The “She’s got help.” scene. I’m all for woman power, but the way this movie did it is terrible. You’re telling me that all of the female Avengers were just sitting around while everyone else was fighting? That’s what it looked like. I really hate that this movie did that. You don't need to have an in your face feministic message. Just show them all kicking ass. Some working together and some doing it by themselves like you did before and after that scene. Valkyrie riding her pegasus around killing those flying worm things, Wanda almost killing Thanos by herself. Show more stuff like that. ‘Infinity War’ did something similar to this but I actually liked that scene cuz it was believable. This time around, it wasn't.

I really wish that this movie didn't come out a year after ‘Infinity War’. I wish we had a couple years and a whole another phase between the movies to really feel the effects of what happened. We could see what the entire world is like and the after effects. We could get another Captain America movie, a Black Widow movie, a Ronan movie, Rocket, Nebula and Rhodie show, another Captain Marvel movie that is about her helping other planets that are maybe taken over since the population is lower. Something like that. It would’ve made for better storytelling. Thanos won and we would’ve thought that that's how the world is gonna be from now on. Then when we finally get an ‘Endgame’ movie, it could ACTUALLY be 5 or maybe even 10 years later. Thanos could spend all that time on his garden planet instead of 21 days. We could see him living a nice good life while Earth is in shambles to really prove that he was wrong. The earth wasn't better off losing half of its population. Then Lang gets out of the Quantum Realm and have everything that played out in the actual movie play out. I feel that if all of that happened, we would’ve been so overjoyed to see our snapped heroes come back after ACTUALLY 5 to 10 years. I would also be more welcoming to the MCU continuing on.

But that stuff was just a wish list. I think this movie is just about perfect. I love what they did with every character. Scott reuniting with his daughter always makes me choke up. Cap in the support group does as well. There are several parts of this movie that make me tear up.

I liked what they did with Captain Marvel here. Her first movie is terrible and her character was all over the place but her character here was so much better written and acted.

This time around, I actually like what they did with Thor’s character. I would’ve rather had less jokes but it makes sense based on the new Thor we got with ‘Ragnarok’ and ‘Infinity War’. I like the direction they bring him. He got his revenge but that did nothing for him cuz he still lost in the end. It goes to show that revenge is never the answer.
Smart Hulk in this, I really like. I was kinda lukewarm with him when I first saw it but now, not only do I like it, it makes sense with his character. Bruce Banner’s entire character to me, is about acceptance. He accepts that Hulk and himself shouldn’t be against each other but instead work together and become one. Sure, I would’ve loved to see another epic Hulk moment but i'm fine with this.

I love the time travel aspect of this movie. I’m a huge time travel fan. Love just about everything that has to do with it. So when I first found out that this movie was gonna be about time travel, I got really excited and by the end of it, I was satisfied.

It's so great to see Ant-Man in an Avengers movie. I love that character so damn much. I think he brings so much joy and breathes so much life in everything he’s in. I can't wait until I get to see him on the big screen again.

From the portal scene and on is when this movie goes from great to phenomenal. Every single time I watch the portal scene I tear up and then when Cap says “Avengers Assemble” and we see them all running together, I get the chills. Every single time I see that scene, I feel the same way. What a fantastic final battle.

The score for this movie is amazing. Every single piece of music is amazing. It sucks that this movie didn't get nominated for the score category. It sucks that it didn't get nominated for Best Picture either. It shouldn’t have won but it would’ve been awesome to see it get nominated. I really hate that the academy looks down on this genre and horror as well. It's all about great storytelling and this movie is just that. What? You can nominate ‘The Irishman’ for 10 Oscars but you only give this movie 1? I’m not just saying that cuz i'm a “Marvel fanboy”, I’m saying that as a film lover. I think that this movie is a genuinely great film but you know, “Marvel movies aren't cinema.” according to some people. Whatever. I don't care.

All in all, a great movie. It wraps up this saga perfectly. I really wish that these movies stopped here since “part of the journey is the end.” but I’d be lying if I said that I wasn't excited to see what comes next.

Quotes of the Movie

“I am inevitable.”

“You did the hardest part. You took the jump you didn't know where you were gonna come down. And that’s it, that’s those little brave baby steps we gotta take. To try and become whole again. Try and find purpose. I went into the ice in 45’ right after I met the love of my life. Woke up 70 years later. You gotta move on. Gotta move on. The world is in our hands. It's left to us guys. You gotta do something with it. Otherwise, Thanos should’ve killed all of us.”
My favorite quote of the movie.

“I love you 3000.”

“You can rest now.”

“Don't. Don't give me hope.”

“You think you’re the only one who lost people? What do you think we’re doing here? I lost the only family I ever had. Quill, Groot, Drax, the chick with the antenna, all gone. I get you miss your mom but she’s gone. Really gone. And there are plenty of people who are only kind of gone and you can help them. So, is it too much to ask that you brush the crumbs out of your beard, make schmoopy talk to Pretty Pants and when she’s not looking, suck out the Infinity Stone and help me get my family back?”
I love this quote so much. Rocket finally acknowledges that Quill, Drax, Groot and Mantis are his family.

“Part of the journey is the end.”

“Sorry Tony.”
When Peter said this, my heart broke. The only time he called him Tony was when he was dying. Such a small detail but I teared up.

“It's time for me to be who I am rather than who I’m supposed to be.”

"And I..am....Iron Man.
