    Maybe the best "dance" scene in movie history. And the headphones at the concert is one of the most romantic scenes I've seen in years! Not a perfect film on rewatch, but parts of this will stay burned in my brain forever. I really really loved it.

    Extremely clever camerawork and a brilliantly tangled little horror story. Probably not the genesis of some of the big slasher tropes, but certainly the earliest examples I've seen. Good shit.

    Holy Hell. That this film could weaponize irony, sweep you up in a spacey drunken dream, and ground your heart to dust without any title cards is just astonishing.

    Murneau was a master. I don't really have anything to add to the conversation about this film. I'm just thoroughly impressed.
