This true story haunted and broke my heart all at the same time. 40 years and nothings changed in terms of how victims are treated, needs to be more police like Detective Pinkerton.

Tell u whats crazy that i never linked this to the film paradise lost because the names obvs arent the same and the netflix still for the poster isn’t the same! Could have had this watched ages ago.
I was literally only watching this for josh duhamel and he wore jeans the whole time while in BRAZIL.Β
^ That was the scariest part tbh.

Aww i adored this it really was stunning. Β Nia DaCosta
is such a talent it was beautiful im obsessed it was just so pleasing to the eyes. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is a dream, but the faces and emotions he was able to capture was so striking! Shadow puppets we’re a brilliant touch also. aesthetically pleasing film that doesn’t try to redo the classic but continue the legend into modern times.

this is weirdly the most serious review ive ever doneπŸ˜‚

Steve McQueens direction is absolutely unreal here. This was difficult to watch, just by how real he made it look. How Michael Fassbender managed to get to that state mentally and physically just astounds me, for me despite how well he played him he wasn't the best casting in terms of appearance and it definitely took from how powerful this was. Absolutely appalling how the british government got away with what they did to those political criminals and to think this was only 40 years ago sickens me.
