Mike Dean’s review published on Letterboxd:
Recently I've been watching a lot of films that have required me to interact with them in very different ways compared to the conventions of filmmaking that I find myself used to. Chantal Akerman's New York films being at the forefront of my interest. Hotel Monterey really forced my perspective out of the expectations that years of movie watching have created, forcing me to find new ways/tools to get closer to what Chantal Akerman was trying to convey, and I find this sort of thing really refreshing when it happens.
To describe my experience with Hotel Monterey I'll use the words of a dear friend of mine;
"Ah... a moving painting."
