I'm like a bad penny, I always turn up.
I’m sure this is stealing a lot from anime’s I haven’t seen, but as I have those blind spots, this is a lot of fun. The plot is formulaic, but the pacing, comedy, and colorful characters are enough to ensure abs enjoyable 90 min. The lesson on trust seemed a little forced, and honestly not satisfying enough given its political parallel. However, I would have loved this movie as a kid, and as an adult I still had a great time!
This movie doesn’t work for a lot of reasons.
Firstly, there are like 5 different dance/musical sequences played for a variety of humor, none of which work. Just cause there is music doesn’t mean we will enjoy it. And “people bad at dancing” is barely funny one time through. Not a single plot element involving Audrey holds up well. Cheating boyfriends, pedophiles, and eating disorders, a real chuckle fest.
