remember when I said that I had never seen anything like the rainbow effect from 20th century women? that was totally inspired by this
-this epitomizes what it means to be new wave: post war pessimism, experimental filmmaking, rejection of a narrative arc, sarcastic/absurdist humor etc.
-some of the more farcical stuff here doesn’t totally work for me and a lot of it comes off sort of annoying (I know it’s meant to) but it more than makes up for it with some incredible montages and obviously no review of this is complete without mentioning the colors
anyway I love this rainbow existential feminist movie and I should probably check out more Czech new wave stuff after this
