Look I’m going to say straight out of the gate, if your afraid this won’t be great throw those worries out the window. Tenet was fantastic and the best movie of the year so far!
John David Washington is such a good actor. This will be his big break because he is very talented. I liked his character even though he does not have too much backstory. He is a swagger and very good in the action. Robert Pattinson as well is great! He is very funny in the movie and provides levity. I have no doubt he will be a great Batman as well. Kenneth Branagh as the villain is so much fun. He goes BIG and he is very over the top which adds to the story. The real standout though is Elizabeth Debecki. She is the heart in the film and more than anyone else you want her to succeed. I won’t spoil why she is so likeable but trust me you will care about her.
Now, is the spectacle good? Of course it is. This movie never lets up and the action is really good. The fights are unique and I was smiling the whole time. It’s not as good as the Docking Scene or Zero Gravity Hallway but there are more memorable scenes that were great.
The movie is pretty confusing for the first hour and a half but that’s what kept me interested. If I knew everything then the movie would be boring. The answers come much later and they truly payoff.
My one flaw is the score. I loved the booming bass score but it plays so loud over the characters which was an odd choice. You can’t really hear some dialogue. I needed closed captioning to watch this movie which was not good.
Tenet is not flawless but I had such a great time back in the theater. I saw it in IMAX and it was so loud and bold. I highly recommend this and don’t let bad reviews discourage you. Nolan is a genius.
***People who say this is too confusing really must have not been paying attention. It’s not flawless but to say it’s Nolan’s worst or close to it your not really making sense at all.
