This is a very slow and silent film. In the beginning the film manages to capture your attention with very little. The animations are very well done and completely bring the rather bare looking still art to life.
I rented this online and to be honest 40-50 minutes into the film I was kind of switching over to doing other things. I guess for me it it is sort of "boring"; it reminded me of The Tale of Princess Kaguya (also directed by Takahata) which also felt like a bit of a drag to me.
