The Talented Mr. Ripley is a film of two halves. The first half consists of Tom lying his way into Dickie's life and falling more and more in love with the man, the way he lives and the freedom his wealth allows.

The second half begins after Dickie is killed by Tom. And our hero assumes the dead man's identity and finds ways to escape capture each and every time by manipulating, by fabricating lies on the fly. By almost…

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I wish I could say I'm just disappointed with Rise of Skywalker... but that would be an understatement. Sigh...

This certainly feels like the end of something but not the Skywalker Saga™. It signifies the end of creativity of Star Wars, or at least that's what it feels like. This is the death of everything good about the sequel trilogy and the advancement of brand and empty nostalgia full stop. Above everything else.

I've been so infuriated by this film,…

    Basket Case 2

No longer the gritty midnight movie madness of the first film. This one has pastel sets. Morticia Addams would hate it! But I thought it made the movie even stranger in a Edward Scissorhands, Todd Solondz kind of way. The artificial but bright rooms contrasted to the grotesque faces of the 'freaks' and the dark wacko storyline. A false visage of normal!!

I found it quirky with all the different 'freak' designs. There's pathos too, with a message about inclusion…

That flashback to Duane's childhood and the surgery is so bananas!!

Splat-tastic, and hilarious! This definitely has a video nasty charm with how smutty and gory it is. The $35,000 budget is obvious, but some of the blood effects and Belials design offer up a wacky alternative. I'm happy to hear this was a Midnight movie, because it's very funny if not a little sullen.

I love all the gritty 80s New York vibes. Pre-Giuliani, the atmosphere of Manhattan is…

I wanted to compile a list of articles, videos and editorials that helped me dig deeper into Call Me By Your Name.

How a Little Film Touched So Many Lives. Arranged/edited/curated by Barb Mirell. A book filled with stories from people who watched the movie and were deeply effected by its power. A large variety of demographics around the world are represented. A global fanbase. Profits from the book go to The Trevor Project which provides crisis and suicide prevention…

This isn't just one of the worst movies of the year.

It might be one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

It pissed me off in a way that movies so rarely do. I had so many objections with the structure, the stylistic choices, the writing and the representation of this movie that it exhausted me.

Any attempts to further unpack all my problems with It have made me want to just shut down.

    I wasn't sure if…
