Promising Young Woman has to be my favorite revenge film, barely triumphing over Tarantino's Kill Bill. It had excellent screenplay, courtesy of Emerald Fennell who's in her feature directorial debut.
The plot is original and unpredictable. It had reasonably dark tone while also being comedic and romantic at times. It mostly centralizes on the character Cassie (played by the amazing Carey Mulligan) and its development as we watch her through an emotional rollercoaster. The ending is rather unusual yet pretty effective. I actually liked the path that they took to make it more unforeseen but somehow satisfying. The score is also fire.
Knowing the Academy, its very unlikely for this film to win Best Picture but I appreciate them for nominating it.
