There’s one thing I can’t deny about Argento… the man’s got style. He beautifully crafts his films like meticulously detailed paintings with perfect lighting and marvelous color, making kills look like a work of art. There is good suspense, interesting lore and inventive kills, but most of it felt like style over substance. The acting is poor with no likable characters, no real plot, weak scares and an underwhelming ending that was laughable at parts. I ultimately enjoyed Inferno, but it was underwhelming as a follow-up to Suspiria.
