  • Top Gun

    Top Gun

While it certainly has that classic-feel about it, it is also surprisingly boring when you don't have any nostalgia-tinted glasses. Cruise is charming but his character has that 80's rapey wibe going that doesn't really hold up today. I don't know who thought a plot about some guy graduating school would be entertaining but at least they had Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer and a great god damn soundtrack to make it worthwhile to watch

  • Universal Soldier

    Universal Soldier

I feel like this film didn't utilize the fact that it starred JCVD. He is mainly just a dull sleepy robot that doesn't really do anything cool except for two great fight scenes. To think what an actor with funny bone like Arnold could've done with the role...

A person who was 100% utilized is Dolph Lundgren and boy is he amazing. He seems to have tons of fun as the psycotic veteran with an ear necklace. He also has a thousand cool oneliners and a bunch of fun scenes. In general this film is much more his than Van Dams and he gives it everything.

  • Crawl

A classic flow-tv-era friday night film. Nothing more, nothing less. It does actially have two main actors who carries the film pretty well.
I did find it ridiculous how many times a body can get bitten by a huge aligator and still swim/run/crawl but during the third act it is made perfectly clear that this is not a realistic univers and if you can buy into that, it's worth your time

  • Van Helsing

    Van Helsing

This is in the same category as Starship Troopers and The Mummy. A crazy B-movie that takes itself seriously while being objectively bad and yet quite entertaining. I don't know why people seem to agree that the first two ones are fun while Van Helsing is bad.

I loved the film as a kid and decided yo watch it again, prepared to be let down. I didn't. It's not art and it's certainly not a good movie. It's crazy fun…

  • The Truman Show

    The Truman Show

A brilliant concept done quite well. There's a bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense and quite a few bad actors (although I guess that might be on purpose) but it doesn't take away from the charm of the film. It only has one going into the third act, apart from that the pacing is great as well

  • Knives Out

    Knives Out

Somehow Rian Johnsons favorite act of subverting expectations in a genre that is always doing just that ended up in something that feels extremely generic.

Knives out isn't bad but certainly isn't close to what it is made up to be either.

Also, what the hell happened to Daniel Craigs accent?

  • A Sun

    A Sun

I am so used to Hollywood holding my hand that I really didn't get what I was supposed to focus on during the first hour of the film. That resulted in me getting quite bored. However, after realizing the film wasn't about two young criminals but about a family, I started to get sucked into the film. The sounds, the smells, the dark streets. The panic when our protagonist's past catches up with him. The rain, the tension in a…

  • Fantastic Fungi

    Fantastic Fungi

Very americanized documentary with a cool subject.

  • The Lighthouse

    The Lighthouse

This is not my taste in film but damn it if I don't love that films like this are still made. It certainly is special!

  • Thor: The Dark World

    Thor: The Dark World

I do enjoy returning to Asgard and seing more of the nine realms. I enjoy seing the bond between Loki and Frigga and espcially Frigga is just cool in this film.

Basicly everything about Jane Foster is horrible though. She accidentally stumbles upon the one wormhole that leads to the aether that makes her the Macguffin of the movie. Why? Just because.

She is also the center of a few too many nausiating love scenes with clichés like "I like…

  • Thor

While the third act was kinda meh with the destroyer as a really boring 'final boss', the rest of this adventure is fun and slightly underrated.

  • High Fidelity

    High Fidelity

A film about a giant pretentious, cheating hypocritical asshole who learns basic lifelessons about love way too late in life and his really cool girlfriend who rightly tries to leave him.

It is also a charming film with a bunch of cool music and some great side characters with excellent acting.
