Tais Nøhr Larsen’s review published on Letterboxd:
I dislike so many danish films for being edgy on purpuse by only including weird characters that doesn't exist in real life. In this movie Paprika Steen, however, grounds the danish film industry with a project that is both simple and deep at the same time. The characters are really, really well made and complex. Every time a character had a new line i caught myself thinking "of course he said that. That is exactly what my relative would do in that situation."
The child actors aren't very good and there are a few over explainatory scenes like the attic scene where a little girl actually asks her granddad "what are you running from?". Aside from that I am pretty sure that Paprika Steens non existing ego has made this into a new classic when it comes to danish christmas films.
