(...) After all is said, dreamed and desired, I feel no need to defend Flaming Creatures. The practice of community critics being paid certain hundreds of dollars to give a set number of star ratings to a motion picture is nearing its end. There must be only the criticism of Enthusiasm. In this sense, Flaming Creatures has no need of defence. It is a motion picture. Its radiant and passionate creator is Jack Smith.
