Absolutely and utterly devastating. This movie completely elimated any positive emotions I have ever, and will ever, have. To me, it also defies rating. I could give it a five for quality of the film because from an emotional and storytelling perspective, Grave is a masterpiece. However, from an enjoyment point of view, this film gets a zero. Any and all hope I had during the film was crushed. I do not enjoy seeing children endure hardships and heartbreak; that, to me, is not enjoyable. I understand that this is about the human spirit, but when you open the film with the main character dying, it sort of negates any message about the human spirit and will to live that you could have promoted. This is a masterwork, especially considering the medium, which is difficult to take seriously. However, this is not a film I'll see again for a very long time, if ever. Once is enough for a lifetime because my soul can't handle another viewing.
