Tilman Schauer’s review published on Letterboxd:
Well, you can say that Kubrick took his time with this movie.
The scenes are really detailed and slow, so it makes the movie in some places "lengthy".
But this have shown what a brilliant perfectionist Stanley Kubrick was. Every scene looks perfect. The way the movie uses particular music in specific scenes; the color, the movements, the whole set and special effects are placed in the exact perfect timing.
I believe that this movie had a lot of influence in that time till today. I recognized many things from other SF-movies.
