Minding the Gap

Minding the Gap ★★★★½

This documentary beautifully and achingly captures one of my favorite, and also underappreciated themes in filmmaking/storytelling, which is that humans are full of contradictions. How can we still love someone when they've caused us pain? And the worst, or best, part is that everyone in this film is aware of those contradictions. But it also doesn't deny that the people or things that hurt us are still people or things that define us, and that can't be erased or fixed, only understood.
