Mmm, I was liking this right up to the ending. That really sunk it for me. I guess the other 110 minutes were still good. Kind of ridiculous action movie. I would say it didn't go far enough over the top. It was weird but didn't go full anime/comic book shenanigans. Mads as a badass assassin can't be bad. Wish he'd shot Hudgens' terrible wig off her head. I'm still not over Rusty.
"It's Exit Only."
This was quite good. Owes a lot to The King of Comedy, but it many ways does not deliver as well as that film. I think it's essential for appreciating Joker though.
It's a great performance from Phoenix. It does not top Ledger, but I think Ledger is so good because he is playing the Joker, not someone who is becoming the Joker or who was someone else before the Joker like Phoenix and Nicholson.
Shelley Duvall is bae. Her performance is amazing in this.
The film is so beautiful and shot so well. Such a classic. Seeing it in the 4K restoration on the big screen really gave me an all-new appreciation for it.
It's a great horror film too, just perfectly constructed. The mood, the music, the mirrors, the flashes from the shine, it's all so great. A masterpiece all around.
