Jack Aling’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's Not About What It Looks Like, It's How It Makes You Feel.
Make Up subverts your expectations by slowly building intrigue as the film turns from a typical relationship drama into a complex character study played brilliantly by Molly Windsor. in the lead role.
Windsor faces her fears as she goes to live with her boyfriend in an empty holiday park but as she begins to discover new truths about herself, the film begins to become more hypnotically edited, with unnerving nightmare-like sequences and flashes of colour.
Writer/Director Claire Oakley creates a unique take on a coming of age story with a mysterious and seductive atmosphere that culminates in an unpredictable but deeply satisfying conclusion.
