Great Mexican film. Plays like a subtler version of PARASITE through the eyes of Michael Haneke’s direction in CACHE. It could’ve benefitted from a more focused narrative drive as well as a stronger third act to exacerbate the full extent of the protagonist’s negatively driven arc, but still a stupendous social critique nonetheless. Go watch it on HBOMax and support Latinx filmmakers!

    In The Heights

Framed through the song and dance musical approach that was present in Lin Manuel Miranda’s original production intended for the stage, director Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) expands IN THE HEIGHTS’ scope for the big screen to perfection. Brilliantly staging musical sequences with hundreds of extras, Chu’s vision along with Alice Brook’s cinematography dances throughout the iconographic neighborhood with a uniquely passionate energy. A Quiet Place Part II

A QUIET PLACE 2 is a gripping continuation that delivers the tension & thrills of its predecessor with more ambition & mastery of the genre. With stunning sound design & impeccable editing, it makes its mark as one of the best horror sequels of all time!

Honestly, this may be one of the best edited films I’ve seen since THE DARK KNIGHT... In the third act, Tellefsen orchestrates the crosscutting of various concurrent sequences that masterfully ramp up the tension in a way that is reminiscent of Lee Smith’s work on TDK, Dunkirk, & more!

Thanks to Paramount for the press screening invite!

WOW... ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE may just be the DCEU’s BEST film yet. With an epic scope, Snyder’s vision transforms the film into a bold & stunning classical epic with heart. Ray Fisher shines too, alongside super action setpieces and a cameo that will leave you begging for more!

I actually was quite mixed on Snyder’s previous work, but this is something special. Thanks to WB for the early screener!
