John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

It's a real shame that the John Wick series seems to be continuing down such a downward trend, going further and further from what made the original so compelling. Sure, there's plenty of glossy and well choreographed action but at a certain point it just becomes derivative with both narrative and character feeling improvised to up the ante of the action from movie to movie.

As stuck in the middle as you can get with a PG-13 horror movie, doesn’t go far enough with the scares to be particularly memorable but doesn’t play it safe enough to really be something for kids? Just completely all over the place in numerous ways: tonally inconsistent, weak characters and a the narrative tying everything together is so run of the mill it’s indistinguishable from countless other teen horror (not to mention the shoehorned political message that not only doesn’t go anywhere but also seems to contradict itself completely at the last minute)

    The Favourite

The Favourite is an odd beast, it's a film that radiates sexual tension yet posits it in such a cynical light that you can't help but be drawn into the faults of the characters and their respective relationships as opposed to the relationships themselves. Each and every character a puppet to one another, pulling strings and playing nasty to gain the favour of Queen Anne (played spectacularly by Olivia Colman) in a bid to hold onto or to gain any…
