Cane Wilson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow what a fucking AMAZING directorial debut. Simply incredible. Honestly I hated the soundtrack at the beginning, and thought it clashed so much with the gorgeous scoring, but towards the end I started to get into it a lot more.
Everyone here is fantastic, although I personally didn’t think they went hard enough. Don’t get me wrong I love that it’s a comedy, and it succeeds as one during moments in the film, but I wanted it to be a bit more in your face. That being said, I am in love with Bo Burnham and Max Greenfield, and I thought they were hilarious as always. I also have a suspicion that Alison Brie is starting to get typecasted a bunch because damn all of her recent roles have been rude middle class white woman.
Honestly I’m willing to overlook the little problems I have with it because this is an absolute ride of a film. Not to mention it’s beautiful at times, and the incredible long shot right at the climax? Inspiration.
