David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet

The messages are familiar, the problems and solutions are known, but I’m not sure I’ve seen a film so simultaneously devastating and hopeful. Attenborough speaks so poignantly because he speaks plainly, without bluster. It was especially powerful to follow the Earth’s transformation through the course of his own life.

Beautifully shot, and the music was enchanting. The story was good enough, and I am all in favor of the modern musical, but I was continually distracted by the thought, “How good would this film be if it starred lesser-known but equally competent actors who could actually sing and dance?”

I will probably need to see this many more times before I really get it, but I knew it was special on the first viewing, even without the Malick hype.

It is unclear, fragmented, difficult to follow. But this is how life works. "The Tree of Life" is the most accurate representation of memory I've ever seen in film.

Maybe I'm not masculine enough to understand the greatness of this film. Obviously well shot and acted, but the story does not intrigue me and I had no sympathy for the man.
