Not as elegant as HEAT nor as fun as Den of Thieves but meaner than both. Surprised Guy Ritchie had something this unrelentingly bleak and vicious in him. Barring some eye rolling dialogue at the beginning and one really robotic performance from a minor character who is thankfully never seen again, this is easily one of the tightest movies of Richie's entire career from the rock solid structure to the genuinely brutal action on display. Throw in a what's easily the best score I've heard this year and you've got one nasty slab of meat served raw for your dining pleasure. I find Richie more miss than most but I can safely say this one of those time where he truly hits.
