Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones is Harrison Ford!
I finally understood the joke on the show Friends when the store operator flirting with Ross says "A Paleontologist who works out. You are like Indiana Jones!" It's one of those much-talked-about, must-watch adventure films. I felt like I was missing all the fun, indeed I was. I'm so glad I watched it. Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark was released 39 years ago, but it's still such a delight to watch. It's a full-on action-adventure film from start to finish.
There's a lot of effort put into this, it's obvious from the sheer magnum opus it is. Set mostly in Egypt, the screen is soaked in the dust. The production team did a commendable job bringing back the Egyptian era with the props, and grand-scale sets. We don't know how the Ark of the Covenant looks like but the device looks pretty convincing. The action scenes are a pure adrenaline rush, especially the chase sequences. The stunts look convincing. Shots on water, air, and on the land are brilliantly captured. It's styled to perfection, no wonder Indiana Jones became such an iconic character.
There are a few laughs, but what kept me going was the Indiana Jones extravaganza! The chase scene in the van with the nazis is a bit stretched. I wish the ending was more realistic, but it doesn't bother much. Harrison Ford embodies Indiana Jones. I don't think there's anything left to say about Steven Spielberg, whatever I say it's pretty much redundant.
