Kind of hard to objectively assess if you’ve seen the remake from 2004.

I found the original a bit too elusive, chaotic and sophisticated, I gotta say. To be honest, if hadn’t seen the remake, this would been hard to follow as it’s a bit cryptic and not explicitly revealing what has happened but I might as well blame being tired while watching this.

Unlike the remake, this also had the whole McCarthyism thing going on. I suppose it all…

I don’t share your enthusiasm for art. Even if I did, it would not be centered on this degenerate trash.

A great WWII movie, inspired by true events of The French Resistance preventing the Nazis from stealing their cultural heritage - somewhat fictionalised, though, for dramatic purposes.

What a load of crap. I could barely handle 15 minutes of it.

Might go back and finish it, though. In 2030 perhaps, once I've made a considerable dent in my Watchlist and there is only American Pie left to watch.

Clearly, propped up (in terms of Letterboxd, where it's #20 and IMDB ratings) by fake accounts, even though it has apparently won some local (in native Brazil) awards.

    Stay away.

As soon as I realised that I couldn’t care less about the characters - every single one of them - it was a sure sign that the movie and I have both fallen apart. Fallen out of love. Well, I suppose it’s a misnomer as there was no love to begin with. Not even attraction, let alone infatuation

The only thing this movie terrorised was my patience.
