in some parallel universe this probably could have been a hot trash fest, integrating the b-movie homage with worthy gore, some naziploitation and a deep digging satiric reflection on the colonial heritage, racism and displayed orientalism. by the means of Indiana Jones being this white smug with a whip in his hands one could argue, that this is somehow reached in the conception of the protagonist and we can catch a glimpse into what could have been possible.
unfortunately this is a spielbergian mainstream exploiter, taking his "fun ride" very serious, grossing at the box office grossly and making Jones an icon. the only hot trash fest here happens in a doggie poop bag, I'm afraid.
still wondering where to enter that parallel universe.
