Bergman Island is the first film that really captures
how writers work their minds: finding characters in real peoples and vice versa. It’s a film that truly sinks in you as each minutes passed by—the wind, the road, the sound, the sun, and the moonlight.
I would love to write in comparison to Bergman’s views and beliefs but I only saw like 12 of his films so more to unpack.
I think the movie itself deserves 4 stars but my personal connection say otherwise.
A beautiful grand finale that somehow doing and achieved even more than the epic task of being a culmination of 21 films.
Messy and chaotic but also idiosyncratic and a very touching trip down the memory lane.
Good characterization but the chemistry of the Original Six are not presented. At least they did something interesting with every original six though.
