    The Little Things

    * This was the shortest season of "True Detective" so far.

    * I always love me some Denzel Washington of course. (He's my all-time favorite actor, btw). Man, he's great in everything he does, and this movie is no exception. He's magnetic whenever he's onscreen, elevating every line and everyone's performance around him.

    * I kept waiting for Rami Malek to burst into song, but no dice. He just did a lot of glaring. This role could have been played…

This film is why I'm always a bit freaked out when I'm having "tubby time" and have to dip my head (or ears) beneath the water. I go into a desperate state of fear that I will come back up transformed into an extra from the "Planet of the Apes" films.

    Thanks, Ken Russell.

    Royal Shakespeare Company: Hamlet

One of the best stage productions of HAMLET that I've seen.

A (mostly) all-black cast plays in this production set in a modern Africa. Infused with African music, costume design and culture... the play is given a new light and perspective that works beautifully here. And instead of distracting, these production elements blend perfectly into the plot and characters.

It's elegantly directed and marvelously crafted in its blocking and creative choices.

The cast shines and is awash in talent. No…

Film #12 of my Seeing A Movie From Every Country Initiative.
    * Country: Suriname

A one-shot short film that goes in reverse. Pretty cool.

But what puts it over the top is the trippy and cool-as-hell score on the film. The music is pretty damn cool. Kind of techno fusion kind of sound. Gives this short an otherworldly quality... especially paired with the whole going-in-reverse aspect of it.

Not sure there is much actual meaning or content... but the cool sound and visual element makes it worthwhile.

We get some damn ROGER MOORE up in here!!!
    Such a welcome relief.

To me... Roger Moore IS James Bond.

Okay, so this is the FIRST MOVIE in SEVEN MONTHS that I've actually seen INSIDE A MOVIE THEATER! (I've been to the drive-in movie theater a few times).

Man, I have missed that feeling. So nice to be back.

Okay, so it was just me and a couple of (truly horrible) parents and their…
