In the opening scene, icy blonde Hendren, wearing a form-fitting business suit and sky-high heels, is disappointed when a cat caller turns out to be nothing but a songbird. She later drives 60 miles and takes a boat across a lake to deliver two lovebirds to a man (Taylor) she just met. She then lies to him about being friends with his ex-girlfriend (Pleshette). And that's just in the first 30 minutes, long before any actual bird attacks. As with most of Hitchcock's best work, there is much subtext to unpack here. But I will leave that to people smarter than me.
