52 Years in 52 Weeks: Week 39- 1981
For someone who calls herself a movie lover, it is a little embarrassing to confess that I had to become 27 years old before I watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark" for the first time. It's nice that this challenge gave me the opportunity to close that education gap.
Until now I had only seen the second and the fourth movie, which I both didn't really like. This one I liked more, even though I have to admit that the 3-star-rating is to a certain degree due to the cult status of this movie and not its actual quality.
I liked that the movie was constructed to be as much fun and entertainment as possible, and Spielberg succeeded with this especially in the action scenes. But I also thought that Marion's part in this movie could have been written so much better and I felt a little uncomfortable watching this white dude raiding and destroying the cultural heritage of Egypt.
I guess Indiana Jones will never be my favorite action hero, but at least I had quite an enjoyable time with him.
