I love that, in 2013, they decided that 2022 was the appropriate year for this movie to take place in. I don’t remember things being all that bad nine years ago?

I’ve read more reviews of this film than I can count and I cannot figure out just what the fuck people think is so spectacular about this film.
Four sad men drink and find that they feel less inhibited and happier. Then they drink more and their lives, predictably, turn to shit. Then one of them dies. Then they all get drunk with a bunch of children and it’s a happy ending because dude’s wife texted him and it’s implied…
A totally unrealistic, oversimplified portrayal of homophobia and the pressure children continue to feel as adults to “earn” their parents love. I honestly couldn’t tell when the movie was trying to be funny and when it was trying to be heartfelt because the parts that (I think) were trying to be sincere were so fucking absurdly ridiculous that they played like pieces of a over-the-top, silly Mel Brooks film.
