Tenet

Tenet

Tenet gestures at a bunch of lofty themes that admittedly get lost in the sauce, but none of those things are what it’s about. It’s really about beautiful people wearing fine clothing in exotic locations. It’s about a car chase where one car is driving backwards. It’s about 2 art heists - one backwards in time and one forwards - that take place in a building that just had an airplane crash into it. To try and parse this movie’s byzantine junk pile of a plot is to rob yourself of the enjoyment of its sheer spectacle. The spy games of Tenet are an excuse for Nolan to take his maximalist style to its full potential. Even his flaws are easily ignored here. Yes, 1/2 the dialogue is exposition mixed so low you can’t hear it, but yes, it’s being said on 2 dueling speedboats in the Mediterranean. Enjoy it!
