Big movie guy
Pig is a 2021 drama starring Nic Cage and directed by Michael Sarnoski in his directorial debut. Nic Cage gives a very grounded, simplistic performance as Robin, a truffle forager living a reclusive life in the middle of the Oregon woods with a pig as his companion, however, Robin is attacked at random one night and his pig is kidnapped. What unfolds is a story of a man motivated to get his best friend back. This film is simply lovely!…
Demons 2 (1986) is the sequel to Demons from Lamberto Bava, this time about a group of tenants in a high rise apartment building that are trying to survive attacks from a hoard of zombie demons.
One thing that is memorable is the characters. In this film they actually have likable people on screen so it’s easier to empathize with their situation. The SFX are what most people rave about from this film, but they’re not crazy impressive. The practical FX and makeup are okay too, in Demons they are superior in all aspects. Demons 2 has a weaker score as well.
Unnerving, upsetting, troubling, anxious…and boring. These are all words to describe how I felt watching The Assistant. My work from home days are more exciting than this film. Despite that I can sympathize with all the problematic elements that Julia Garner’s character endured, it’s just not a very interesting watch for 87 minutes even though it’s filmed exceptionally well.
Fear Street Part Three: 1666 is the weakest of the trilogy - the atrocious old English accents didn't help - but it coherently ties in all parts of the previous films well and was able to conclude the series by sticking the landing. The Fear Street trilogy was one of the freshest takes in the horror genre in a long time and provided an entertaining watch with each release.
