    Goodbye, Dragon Inn

If I'd emerged from a two-decades-long coma and you told me filmgoing ended in 2003 and the last movie ever was Tsai Ming-liang's Goodbye, Dragon Inn, I would think it a fine and appropriate ending. Describing a pivotal shot from this film, Apichatpong Weerasethakul wrote, "I've never felt so special about cinema since then," and I've never been one to disagree with Apichatpong. If you've ever felt haunted by the places and spaces of your filmgoing life, I can't imagine walking away from this film unmoved.
