“Is this all there is?”
“What else ought there be?”
Best film of 2021, I can’t even really imagine this being topped. Absolutely floored by how immersive and gorgeous this movie was. Felt fully transported even though I was in a room full of people. The Green Knight was a very authentic interpretation of this tale, filled with all the ambiguity, mystery, and magic of the source material (Tolkien has a great translation if you haven’t read it).
I loved the use of contrasting colors (the monologue about red and green, the cut from orange lighting to blue lighting in one of the shots toward the end) and the mix of “authentic” dialogue with more modern sensibilities and meanings. Truly a masterfully executed piece of cinema.
