Just a handful of broken people (because Snyder has always regarded these characters as people first, gods second) finding hope and healing in unity, saving each other while also saving the world. I feel a sobering confidence in the fact that we may never see anything like this ever again — certainly not from a similar circumstance. That it even exists feels like an act of defiance against the broader, monolithic landscape of super cinema; that it manages cohesion, purposeful characterization and genuine beauty is doubly miraculous. It’s a shame you can only watch your favorite movies for the first time, one time.
