“Asps. Very dangerous. You go first.”
Every time I watch Raiders it goes up in my estimation. It’s by very definition a comfort food movie. A genre exercise and homage to serial films that goes from set piece to set piece in the most economical and satisfying ways. A brilliant script, edited masterfully, with a gorgeous score and career defining performances. It’s just so confidently directed, that kid Spielberg knew how to make a picture.
It is amusing to me that Nazis are the ones seeking and digging up an artifact so closely related to the Jewish faith, and didn’t expect their faces to be melted off, but hey, no one ever said Nazis were smart.
