I would think a common problem most new horror filmmakers have is that their movies will very likely be compared to iconic films that clearly influenced their style.
That's not necessarily a bad thing if the result is a solid film.
With major vibes of The Witch, It Comes at Night, The Ritual and probably others I'm forgetting, Sator is an atmospheric slow-burn that effectively offers very creepy shots and sounds that mostly keep your interest.
Unfortunately the focus on atmosphere overshadows the lack of compelling narrative as you are pretty much trying to figure out what the heck is going on most of the movie.
That get's mostly forgiven by a very intense ending.
