  • King Kong

    King Kong

    REWATCHED ON: Blu-ray

Bound for a remote island under the promise of profits, Carl Denham inadvertadly takes the cast and crew of his latest motion picture into terrible danger, facing the savage natives, one-extinct dinosaurs, and the ruler of Skull Island: Kong.

I remember being gifted the special edition of King Kong for Christmas one year, and it was constantly on repeat. I watched it over and over again, and would watch the mountains of bonus features in a similar…

  • Van Helsing

    Van Helsing

    REWATCHED ON: Blu-ray

Sent by his superiors to Transylvania, famed monster hunter Van Helsing must battle the dreaded Count Dracula, along with various other monsters that plague the land.

This film was everything to me as kid. I must've watched it every other week. When I would go and visit my Dad, we'd halt any of our plans to watch Van Helsing if it showed up on the TV schedule. We're not blind to it's faults, but as a vehicle…

    Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

    WATCHED ON: Disney+

When the camp he's called home is threatened by dark forces, Percy Jackson and his friends journey to the Sea of Monsters to find the one artifact that can save them all from eternal damnation.

I saw the first Percy Jackson film in cinemas back in 2010, and wasn't particularly enamoured with it, seeing it as an emalgamation of all the other YA adaptations we'd gotten at the time.
I also have never read the books, so…

  • Maggie Simpson in The Force Awakens from Its Nap

Maggie Simpson in The Force Awakens from Its Nap

    WATCHED ON: Disney+

On another trip to the daycare, Maggie Simpson loses her pacifier, and must battle the evil of the Dark Side to retrieve in this homage to the Star Wars Universe.

Urgh. Disney really have no idea how to pay tribute to one of the most influential franchises in history, do they?

First they use some of the very worst fan art I've ever laid eyes on for all the theatrical films (like, why not ask Drew Struzan…

  • Star Wars

    Star Wars

    WATCHED ON: Disney+

As is tradition every 4th May, I will watch some kind of Star Wars film. Seeing as me and the girlfriend have been going through the series over the last few months, we only had the original '77 film and Attack of the Clones - i'm hoping to put off watching The Rise of Skywalker for as long as possible, quite frankly!
I'd rather not rewatch Attack of the Clones either, so the choice was made.

  • I Am Mother

    I Am Mother

    WATCHED ON: Netflix

Long after an extinction-level event wipes out humanity, Daughter is raised by Mother - a highly-advanced robot - in a facility that aims to restore the human race. But when a mysterious Woman arrives at the facility with knowledge of the outside world, Daughter begins to question everything she's been taught by Mother.

I Am Mother had been floating on my radar for some time, after seeing a breakdown of the Mother design in the film. It…
