“In case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight.”

When I was a senior in high school, I was one of the morning announcement guys (I know, I know). Every morning my sign off was that quote, in the hopes that when anyone from my school watched this movie, they would hear that quote and go
“🙄 *scoff* the morning announcement guy.”

If that has happened even once, it was a success.

Wow I related to this so much! Especially the scene where Rami Malek and Denzel are in a car talking about how bored they are while waiting for something to happen...

This is such a quiet movie, yet it still demands your attention in a way that isn’t seen very often. It’s a very simple movie; an eccentric and unorthodox look into the refugee experience while waiting for asylum. Ah yes, just as fucked up as I remember. For sure one of Fincher’s best films to date.

This goes out to Tyler Perry: please, for the love of god, do more movies like this. I don’t know what it is about guys like Tyler Perry and Adam Sandler but the talent is there. Why are we not using it? (Although he is doing some incredible producing & humanitarian work outside of acting so I give him major props for that).

“Why do they call him the bullet dodger?”
    “...Cuz he dodges bullets, Avi.”

I have never needed subtitles for an English language film more.

I still can’t decide if I’m a fan of Guy Ritchie’s direction. For me it feels like I really enjoy parts of his style like the colorful characters, the music cues and the jump cut editing, while I hate other parts of it like the color tinting and the disjointed storytelling.

    Some of his movies work…
