Rchelle’s review published on Letterboxd:
Y’all can’t be serious. *This was a university film produced under the tutelage of a women’s studies professor.* Is irony totally dead?
It’s obvious that the cartoon’s a parody, *making fun of toxic men and their oh so fragile feelings*. Hertzfeld is playing a role, like he’s done other times as the animator behind the scenes.
In the 90s “Ah L’Amour” played movie theaters and won big awards. Critics wrote about its “meta comedy.” It was on MTV. Audiences in the 1990s were not a bunch of primitive, sexist idiots. They were in on the joke. Today, people on Letterboxd scream about misogyny and incels and call Hertzfeld ridiculous names.
