    The Conformist

    ★★★★★

Director Bertolucci and Cinematographer Storraro have created a masterpiece of form by using light, mix elements of film noir, haunting surrealism, character positioning and by adapting the dark poetry Of politics.. It is a story about repression and oppression, childhood trauma, remorse, torn love story, about nationality and mature analysis of fascist ideology.. It should be always remembered for its influential visual brilliance and complex narrative artistry...
Simply one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen with a strong, interesting and moving storyline and character arc...

This film contains 425 minutes of footage those are divided into 156 shots.. That means average shot of Satantango is little more than 2 & 1/2 minutes long! Where in general films have highest 10-15 seconds!! Enough to allow you for a completely different view of cinematic experience...
Here humanity is fading into eternal darkness..A masterpiece by any measure, one of the deep, dark wonders of cinema for sure.. You can easily get the level of Despair in the atmosphere is at its deepest, but now the only way out, is the way of Rising high up...

As such, Andrei’s eventual return to his work is treated not only as a display of the man learning to cope with his trauma, but as a spiritual awakening...

This brings us to what is the message of Tarkovski in this…
