Dark Habits 1983
Slightly under god-tier Almodóvar for me, yet still elegant and classically composed in unexpected ways - adjectives probably not often used for a film featuring drug-addled nuns and a pet tiger. The anticlimactic, abrupt ending felt purposeful; I was left a little misty-eyed.

There’s a scene in Mohabbatein which takes place at a crowded snack bar where, if you listen closely, you can just make out the refrain of Céline Dion’s 1993 smash hit “The Power of Love,” a striking ballad that’s as likely to be heard at a wedding reception as in a Walgreens.
