V/H/S/94 ★★★★

The most consistent of the series, maybe even more so than V/H/S/2; there’s a strong level of quality and creativity between all of the shorts here, and even if nothing quite hits the high of “Safe Haven”, it’s still a welcome return to form after Viral’s extreme mixed bag. Ryan Prows’s Four Lions-ish antifascist bloodbath > Timo Tjahjanto’s splatterpunk FPS chaos = Chloe Okuno’s dryly funny urban legend monster mash > Simon Barrett’s slow burn Amicus creepshow > Jennifer Reeder’s enjoyably campy wraparound. Hail Raatma.
