  • Elektra

    Elektra

    ★★★

perfectly tolerable with fun setpieces. don't really get the hate but at the same time im not really sure who i would recommend this to lol

  • The Bay

    The Bay

    ★★★

barry fucking levinson doing this is so funny to me

  • The Phantom

    The Phantom

    ★★★

still trying to figure out what race catherine zeta jones is in this

  • Celluloid Nightmares

    Celluloid Nightmares

    ★★★

really not getting too much out of this!! not sure if the pinku genre at large is really for me.

  • Let the Summer Never Come Again

Let the Summer Never Come Again

respect the energy but this is unfortunately a bit too patience testing for me - i'm really not seeing the uberlong justifications here. it is a cool aesthetic and the writing is good though! i'm curious to see his next work...

  • Star 80

    Star 80

    ★★★

i feel like this kinda glamorizes too much but eric roberts plays the slimiest dude in history so that's fun sometimes

  • Heroic Purgatory

    Heroic Purgatory

    ★★★

unfortunately too dense for me in the JNW way - i kind of like my mind just mindlessly droning a la antonioni whenever i'm presented with these sort of aesthetics. hard not to admire on a formal level, but again too big brain for me. really gotta get to E+M one of thesedays!

  • Nobody

    Nobody

    ★★★

i'll take Death Wish's post-ironic approach to this versus naishuller's weird line treading where you can tell he kiiiinda wants to go that direction but not really. also the fact that this dude is like 48 and still uses a debit card made me think i was watching Cuck (2019) for a moment

  • Homo Sapiens

    Homo Sapiens

    ★★★

alas somehow i did not know this was a landscape film

  • Serial Experiments Lain

    Serial Experiments Lain

    ★★★

i think it's really funny (and on point considering the nature of the series) that the day before i started watching this, one of my friends had a dream that i watched it and more or less said "it was fine but kiyoshi kurosawa would do a better job with it" which... uhh is kinda what i think lol.

a lot of cool concepts (transhumanism, collective identity, the singularity) which are actually handled pretty well in the latter episodes yet…

  • Hitman

    Hitman

    ★★★

this is, without a doubt, a movie

  • Deadly Blessing

    Deadly Blessing

    ★★★

one of the least predictable movies i have seen in a while so i'll give it that!
