"It's the shits" - Rick Moranis' character says this as an insult, but I'm saying it as praise. Streets of Fire is the shits.
I really enjoyed spending 90 minutes in that 50s by way of the 80s movie backlot universe where the dialog might as well be in cartoon bubbles and the roles haven't evolved since the days of mustache twirling villains tying the hero's girl to railroad tracks. Everything is amped up and loud, like maybe cocaine was introduced in the chemical bath when the negative was being developed. Could have ended five minutes sooner, because that last song... woof!
MVP: Tie between Willem Dafoe's lip quiver and Bill Paxton's hair.
