Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★½

A complicated, yet - at the same time - oversimplified look at Fred Hampton. To its credit, the film does not entirely ignore Hampton's faults, though its politics also don't quite cut deep enough. And while it present its damning case against the FBI and their allies, one wishes more of an attempt were made to connect the dots between actions and attitudes then vs. actions and attitudes today. Still, everyone walking away from this film is going to do so with questions, and maybe that will lead some to seek further discussion or study, dig it?
