Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive ★★★★½

Not sure I completely understood it but I damn sure enjoyed Mulholland Drive as an entry in to the world of David Lynch! A year or two ago my film teacher told me to listen out for the unique sound design in his work; it's subtle, but the industrial ambient noise really adds to the film's unnerving atmosphere. Also, this was very reminiscent of both Vertigo and Persona for me, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the latter and Bergman were an influence on Lynch.
