Another classic that took me way too long to finally watch. This was great!

I'm really impressed with what they managed to pull off with such a tiny budget. Great practical effects. Creative camera angles. Awesome score. Horrifying atmosphere but, at the same time, great humor. Ash getting his ass kicked and getting tons of fake blood thrown at his face. Actually evil dead people. Like, they're dead, but they're also evil. They're mean little bastards that make fun of you.

Can't wait to watch Evil Dead 2.

A slightly darker version of Tomb Raider. Just slightly.

    Dear Mr. Wan,

You have a really great movie in here. I'm just conflicted on why you, apparently intentionally, chose to make the characters cheesy as hell and have the actors act so horribly. From where I'm standing that's my biggest concern, because it really took me out of the experience and sometimes even made me yawn. If it wasn't for that entire third act, I'm almost sure that I would downgrade it to a below average score.

On another note, please do continue to make original efforts like this. Just with a little more competence on the technical level.

    Thank you,
    Me.

Every once in a while you stumble upon a movie that leaves you absolutely speechless. This is one of them.

I watched this yesterday for the first time, rewatched it today to see if there was any flaws somewhere or something that I might've not enjoyed but didn't notice... and guess what. It got even better.

Lubna Azabal - who plays the mother character - gives a truly mesmerizing performance. The actress who plays the daughter also did a pretty…

Clint I love you man... but this wasn't good. Where did you find that kid actor? He was cringeworthy all the way through.

And I thought it was nearly impossible to make a horror movie nowadays with completely original ideas and concepts. This was great. There is some logistical aspects in the third act that conflicted me though. But when you start a movie with a simple premise and then continuously stretch said premise to the max by the end, it's more than likely some things won't be clear I guess. I'm sure Jordan Peele had it all organized in his head before…

  • The Abyss

    The Abyss

    ★★★★

I chose to watch the director's cut because people say it ties up loose ends, and by the end it does feel wrapped up pretty great. The only reason I don't give this a full 5 star rating is entirely because of the third act.

Like I said, it does feel wrapped up. I think it's just a matter of personal taste. Without spoiling anything - it just felt cartoony, somewhat cliché and it heavily reminded me of Spielberg's A.I.…

This movie is 32 years old and it's still relevant today, maybe even more. Normally that would be a good thing, but if you watched the movie you know it really isn't.

Having not seen many 2021 movies yet, the few ones that I watched were from bad to just "good". I feel this one is the first truly "great" this year. Not for everyone for sure, but definitely for me.

  • Cruella

    Cruella

    ★★★

It's kinda sad that I enjoyed Estella way more than Cruella... you know, the actual protagonist of the movie? It's not that I didn't like Emma Stone's performance, she was actually quite great. I just liked her more as Estella and I found myself wanting more scenes with her. Emma Thompson was phenomenal as well.

On a side note, what's with the constant, almost non-stop soundtrack all over the place? It got really annoying after a while.

Anyways - pointless movie but surprisingly entertaining.
